CertainTeed is one of the largest names in residential siding. Its appeal comes from breadth: one manufacturer offers traditional lap vinyl, foam-backed insulated panels, and shake-style polymer products. That matters in Suisun City, where the housing runs from Victorian-era homes near the Old Town waterfront to postwar ranches and newer tracts on the flats.
Bay Area Siding Company is a siding and window contractor based in Larkspur. We install CertainTeed siding, along with several other systems, on Suisun City homes. We will also tell you plainly when a different material would suit your house better.

CertainTeed sells a family of products rather than one siding. Here is how the main lines sort out for a homeowner:
Current availability of individual lines, colors, and profiles changes over time. We confirm what is actually stocked for your project before you finalize a selection.
Suisun City sits against the Suisun Marsh and the slough. Delta wind blows across the water, humidity lingers, and the air carries a bit more salt than it does farther inland. Summers still get hot, as they do across much of Solano County. Here is how CertainTeed vinyl performs under each of those conditions.
Humidity and marsh air. Vinyl does not rot, does not need paint to protect it, and does not corrode the way metal can near brackish air. For owners who are tired of repainting every few years, this is the main reason to consider it. Keep one fact in mind, though. Vinyl is a rain screen, not a waterproof wall. The water-resistive barrier (WRB) and flashing behind it still do the real work of keeping water out of the sheathing.
Wind. Vinyl's performance in wind depends heavily on installation. Panels need full lock engagement, nails centered in the nailing hem, and correct fastener spacing. A properly installed wall stays put through gusty evenings. A sloppy one can rattle or let a panel work loose. The foam backing on insulated panels also adds rigidity.
Summer heat. This is vinyl's honest trade-off. It expands and contracts noticeably with temperature. Under intense heat it can distort, especially darker colors, or panels near a reflective surface such as a low-E window on a neighboring house. Correct installation leaves room for that movement. Panels are hung, not nailed tight, and gaps are left at trim and corners. Color choice matters too, and we will talk through which shades make sense for sun-facing walls.
The right CertainTeed product depends on what you live in.
Postwar and newer tract homes. These make up much of Suisun City. Monogram or Mainstreet lap siding is usually a clean, economical upgrade from aging T1-11, hardboard, or thin aluminum. Stepping up to insulated CedarBoards helps where walls are wavy, or where you want a bit more comfort on the windward side.
Older homes near Old Town. Vinyl is a more careful decision here. Victorian and early-1900s houses depend on trim depth, corner boards, and proportion. Replacing their cladding with a generic vinyl profile can flatten their character. On these homes we often steer toward shake accents, deeper profiles, or a different material altogether. The options are wood siding, LP SmartSide, or fiber cement, whichever keeps the house reading right.
If you are still deciding between vinyl brands, the vinyl siding hub covers the category as a whole. The CertainTeed hub goes deeper on the brand.
A CertainTeed job with us starts the same way any re-side should: by removing the old siding. Pulling it off exposes the sheathing or substrate, the WRB (or its absence), and the flashing at windows, doors, and roof-wall transitions. We can then see whether wind-driven water has been getting in. Normal tear-off does not expose the framing. We only go further if the sheathing itself has failed.
From there the steps are:
If you are replacing windows at the same time, doing both together lets us integrate the flashing correctly. See our Suisun City window replacement page.

CertainTeed backs its siding with manufacturer warranties that are well regarded in the industry. Coverage terms differ by product line and depend on correct installation. We will show you the actual warranty document for the product you choose rather than summarizing it from memory.
Siding work in Suisun City goes through the City of Suisun City Building Division, part of Development Services. The city asks homeowners to confirm with the division whether their particular project needs a permit before work begins. We handle that inquiry and any required permit and inspections as part of the job.
We do not publish prices because the variables are real. They include:
We measure and inspect first, then price.

Is CertainTeed vinyl a good fit for a home near the Suisun Marsh? For many homes, yes. Vinyl does not rot, needs no paint, and is not bothered by humid, slightly salty air. The caveat is that it relies on a good WRB and flashing behind it. It also has to be installed correctly to handle Delta wind and summer heat.
What is the difference between Monogram, Mainstreet, and CedarBoards? Mainstreet is the value-oriented lap line. Monogram is thicker, with a bolder profile and more color options. CedarBoards is insulated vinyl with a foam backing for added rigidity, flatter walls, and some added insulation.
Will dark CertainTeed colors warp in Suisun City summers? Darker vinyl absorbs more heat and moves more. It can distort under intense sun or reflected heat. We review your wall orientation and surroundings, then recommend colors and installation details accordingly.
Do I need a permit for CertainTeed siding in Suisun City? Check with the City of Suisun City Building Division for your specific project. We confirm the requirement and handle any permit and inspections.
