Marvin is the window brand Rodeo homeowners reach for when the project is as much about design as it is about draft-proofing — big openings that frame a bay view, custom sizes an off-the-shelf line can't cover, and the material quality that comes with premium wood and fiberglass. It's a high-end name with the manufacturing depth to back the ambition. Bay Area Siding Company installs Marvin across west Contra Costa from our Larkspur base, handling the full replacement from measurement through the final air-seal.

The Marvin lines

Marvin's strength is range at the premium end, across three main families:

  • Signature — the architectural, most customizable tier, with the largest sizes, extensive shapes, and the design flexibility that sets Marvin apart on a distinctive home.
  • Elevate — a fiberglass exterior with a warm wood interior, pairing durability outside with a real-wood look inside.
  • Essential — all-fiberglass, clean and low-maintenance, for owners who want Marvin's build quality without wood.

Fiberglass is central to Marvin's story: it's exceptionally strong and thermally stable, expanding and contracting at nearly the same rate as glass, which helps seals last — an advantage on a home that swings between cool bay mornings and warmer afternoons.

Why Marvin fits certain Rodeo projects

Marvin makes the most sense on two kinds of Rodeo jobs. The first is the view-and-design project — a home positioned to catch San Pablo Bay, where the owner wants large or specialty windows to make the most of it, and Marvin's Signature line delivers sizes and shapes the mainstream brands can't. The second is the quality-first replacement on a home where the owner intends to stay and wants the best material and finish, wood inside or fiberglass throughout. On a salt-exposed lot, Marvin's fiberglass exteriors resist the corrosion and finish breakdown that age aluminum and painted-wood windows, so the premium build doesn't translate into premium upkeep. The honest trade-off is price: Marvin sits firmly at the top tier.

How Marvin compares

Marvin is the premium, design-flexible, large-format choice with a fiberglass backbone. Against the field:

  • Andersen and Pella — the other premium brands; Andersen's Fibrex composite and Pella's wide wood-to-fiberglass range are the natural cross-shops at this level.
  • Milgard and Anlin — the value-and-warranty West Coast vinyl brands, a step down in price and positioning.

If custom sizes, big glass, and top-tier material lead your project, Marvin is hard to beat; if straightforward energy performance at a lower cost is the goal, the vinyl brands fit better. Compare them all at the window hub. We also install aluminum windows.

Energy and the install detail

Marvin's glass packages include the dual-pane, Low-E configurations that cut the heat loss an older Rodeo home loses through single-pane glass — and Marvin's large units make good glass especially worthwhile, since there's more of it. But on a windy waterfront lot the install is decisive: each window set level and plumb, integrated with the wall's water-resistive barrier, flashed to shed water, and sealed against air infiltration. Larger openings raise the stakes on flashing, since there's more perimeter to seal. We do retrofit (insert) installs, which keep the existing frame, and new-construction (full-frame) installs, which remove the window to the rough opening so the flashing is fully renewed — the right call for larger units or where there's sill rot or past water intrusion. We recommend based on the openings.

Permits and Title 24

Rodeo is unincorporated, so window permits go through Contra Costa County's Department of Conservation and Development (Building Inspection). Window replacement is a permitted alteration under the county ordinance, and as a fenestration alteration it carries a Title 24 energy compliance form. Marvin's glass packages are built to meet California's energy requirements; we confirm the current U-factor and SHGC targets for the applicable climate zone at permit time and complete the energy documentation as part of the job. Enlarging an opening for a larger unit can add structural scope, which we'd scope and permit accordingly.

What affects the cost

No posted prices. Marvin projects turn on the count and size of openings, the line and glass package (an Essential and a Signature are very different investments), custom sizing and shapes, retrofit vs. new-construction, framing condition and any opening enlargement, and access — upper-story and large openings on a bayside home take more setup. We measure and give you a real figure.

Rodeo Marvin FAQs

Why choose Marvin over a vinyl brand? For large openings, custom sizes and shapes, and top-tier material — wood interiors or all-fiberglass. If your Rodeo project is design-driven or you want the best build for a long stay, Marvin delivers what mainstream vinyl can't. If cost leads, compare the vinyl brands.

Is fiberglass a good frame near the bay? Yes — fiberglass is strong, thermally stable, and doesn't corrode or need a finish for salt air to attack, so it's low-maintenance on a bayside lot and its stability helps seals last.

Do I need a permit for Marvin windows in Rodeo? Yes. Because Rodeo is unincorporated, permitting runs through Contra Costa County's Department of Conservation and Development (Building Inspection), and a Title 24 energy form is part of the fenestration submittal. We handle both — and scope any structural work if you're enlarging an opening.

Can Marvin do a large window to frame the bay view? That's a Marvin strength. The Signature line covers large and specialty sizes the mainstream brands don't; we'll assess the opening, the flashing, and any structural work needed to do it right.
