Anlin is one of the few window manufacturers that builds its product in California. Its vinyl replacement windows come out of Clovis in the Central Valley. For a St. Helena homeowner, that makes the brand worth a close look. The company designs for the same kind of long, hot, high-UV summer the upper Napa Valley gets. It markets its windows on energy performance, and its warranty goes further than most vinyl lines, including coverage for glass breakage.

Bay Area Siding Company installs Anlin windows across St. Helena and the Napa Valley. We are a Marin-based siding and window contractor. We handle the measuring, the glass specification, the City of St. Helena permit, the installation, and the final walkthrough.

What you're actually buying with Anlin

Anlin makes vinyl windows and focuses on the replacement market. That focus shapes the product.

  • Built for replacement. Anlin's windows are designed to go into existing openings. That suits most St. Helena re-window projects, where the goal is better performance without rebuilding the walls.
  • Energy-efficient glass packages. Anlin sells its windows on thermal and solar performance. On a valley home, the glass matters more than anything else about the window. Dual-pane insulated glass with a Low-E coating cuts heat gain and glare on the sun-facing walls, and the view stays clear.
  • A warranty that covers breakage. Anlin's published coverage includes limited-lifetime protection and glass-breakage coverage. Few vinyl brands offer the breakage piece. We walk you through the current terms for the specific product you order.
  • Distinct product lines. Anlin offers several series, including Catalina and Del Mar. They differ in frame profile, appearance, and features, so choosing a line is partly about how the window will read on your house.
  • Low upkeep. Vinyl frames don't need painting and won't rot. That's a real advantage on an estate with dozens of openings, or on a second home where you'd rather not schedule exterior maintenance.

Where Anlin fits in St. Helena, and where it may not

We'd rather tell you honestly where a brand fits than sell the same window to every house. St. Helena's housing stock is unusually varied, and Anlin suits some of it better than others.

Strong fits:

  • Mid-century, ranch, and later homes where vinyl looks natural and the main goals are comfort, lower cooling load, and low maintenance.
  • Additions, guest houses, and outbuildings on larger parcels, where a durable, efficient window matters more than a period profile.
  • Homeowners who value the warranty. Glass-breakage coverage means something on a property with kids, pets, or landscaping crews working near the glass.
  • West- and south-facing walls that bake through the late afternoon, where Anlin's Low-E glass options address the actual problem.

Where we'd also show you alternatives:

  • Victorian-era and early-20th-century homes near downtown. St. Helena has a National Register historic district and a documented stock of older buildings. On a period facade, a vinyl frame can look wrong next to original trim. A clad-wood window from Marvin, Andersen, or Pella often suits these openings better. Near the historic core, we also confirm any design considerations tied to the address before anything is ordered.
  • Oversized view walls on estate homes. Very large or unusual openings can push past what a vinyl frame handles comfortably. Fiberglass, such as Milgard's Ultra line or Marvin's fiberglass products, can be the better structural match. We size this opening by opening, not by rule of thumb.
  • Dark exterior colors. Vinyl color options are more limited than painted wood or fiberglass, and frame color affects how a vinyl frame handles heat. If the design calls for a deep color, we'll discuss the trade-offs up front.

If you're comparing brands, the window replacement hub and the Anlin overview lay out the options side by side.

Heat, fire zones, and glass selection

Summer heat is the main reason St. Helena homeowners upgrade their windows. That makes glass selection the most consequential part of an Anlin order.

California's Title 24 energy code sets performance limits for replacement windows. Those limits vary by climate zone and change between code cycles. We don't quote fixed numbers. We confirm the values in effect when we pull the permit and specify an Anlin glass package that meets them.

Fire hazard is the other consideration, and it depends on the parcel. The 2020 Glass Fire burned into the St. Helena area. Cal Fire's 2025 Local Responsibility Area maps also designated parts of the upvalley, including sections between St. Helena and Calistoga, as elevated fire hazard. On a designated parcel, Chapter 7A of the California code can reach the windows. Altered openings generally need multi-paned glazing with at least one tempered pane, among other requirements.

Whether that applies to you depends on your parcel's designation and on how the work is classified, so we confirm it with the City of St. Helena Building Division before ordering. If tempered glazing is required, it goes into the Anlin specification from the start rather than coming up at inspection.

How an Anlin installation goes

  1. Walkthrough and measurement. We look at each opening and check the condition of the existing frames and sill areas. Then we measure precisely, because Anlin builds each window to size.
  2. Choosing the line and glass. We compare Catalina, Del Mar, or another series against your house's style. Then we select the glass for each elevation's sun exposure and any fire-zone requirement.
  3. Permit. Window replacement is permitted through the City of St. Helena Building Division. The submittal typically includes a Title 24 energy compliance form. We prepare and manage it.
  4. Installation. Most Anlin jobs are retrofit (insert) installs. The existing frame stays in place, which limits disruption to interior finishes and exterior siding. Where an opening shows rot or past water intrusion, we recommend a new-construction (full-frame) install instead. That takes the opening back to the rough framing so the flashing can be fully renewed. We'll show you what we find before changing scope.
  5. Sealing, trim, and walkthrough. We air-seal and flash each unit and finish the trim. Then we walk the house with you, and inspection follows.

If new siding is also on your list, doing both together lets us integrate the window flashing with the new water-resistive barrier. See siding replacement in St. Helena and our general St. Helena window replacement page.

What shapes the cost of an Anlin project

We don't publish prices. An Anlin job in St. Helena depends on factors we confirm on site:

  • The number and size of the windows
  • The product line and operating style (sliders, casements, picture units, and so on)
  • The glass package
  • Whether fire-zone tempered glazing is required
  • Retrofit versus full-frame installation
  • Any rot repair around the openings
  • Access, since upper-story windows and sloped or large vineyard lots take more setup

A walkthrough gives you a real, itemized number. You can see examples of our window and exterior work in the projects gallery, and more about the area we cover on the Wine Country service area page.

FAQ

Is Anlin a good choice for a St. Helena home in the valley heat? For many homes, yes. Anlin focuses on energy-efficient glass, and a dual-pane, Low-E configuration helps with the solar heat that hits sun-facing walls in summer. We choose the glass elevation by elevation and confirm it meets the current Title 24 requirements at permit time.

Can Anlin windows be used on a parcel in a designated fire-hazard zone? It depends on your parcel and scope. If Chapter 7A applies, altered openings generally need multi-paned glazing with at least one tempered pane, plus other requirements. We confirm the parcel's status and the requirement with the City of St. Helena Building Division, then specify the Anlin glazing to match before ordering.

Will vinyl windows look right on an older St. Helena house? On many mid-century and later homes, yes. On Victorian-era or early-1900s homes, especially near the historic district, a clad-wood window often preserves the character better. We'll show you both options and check for any design considerations tied to your address.

Are you an Anlin dealer? We install Anlin windows, and we also install Milgard, Andersen, Marvin, and Pella. That lets us recommend whichever brand suits each house rather than steering every project to one line.
