You are paying for three things: frame materials, customization, and the ability to handle unusual or oversized openings. It is not the budget choice, and it doesn't pretend to be.

Essential: all-fiberglass. Essential is Marvin's entry point. Its fiberglass frames are dimensionally stable and don't need the upkeep of wood. It suits homeowners who want Marvin's build quality and a clean look without paying for wood interiors. Signature: architectural and custom. Signature is Marvin's top tier. It is built for architect-driven projects, larger sizes, and the most configuration and finish options. When an Eichler's floor-to-ceiling glass or an unusual opening needs something beyond standard offerings, this is the collection we look at. It carries the highest price and typically the most involved ordering process.

Product names, sizes, and options change over time. We confirm current availability with Marvin for each opening rather than promising a configuration before it's specified.

Honest trade-offs

Marvin is a strong product, but not the right answer for every house:

• Cost. Expect a meaningfully higher per-unit price than vinyl brands, especially in Elevate and Signature.
• Wood interiors need care. Wood faces on the room side must be finished and kept up like any interior woodwork.
• It's overkill for some jobs. On a secondary bedroom or garage window in a standard tract home, the premium may not buy you much.
• Planning time. Custom sizes and higher-tier options mean more upfront specification. Field measuring and ordering should happen before you lock in a schedule.

Marvin on a Sunnyvale Eichler or ranch

A new-construction (full-frame) installation removes the old window to the rough opening so flashing and the water-resistive barrier around it can be fully renewed. We recommend full-frame where we find rot or signs of past water intrusion, and we tell you before the order is placed.
• Respect the proportions. Where a wall mixes fixed glass and operable units, we plan sizes and mullion placement so the elevation still reads as mid-century, not as a patchwork of replacements.
